Well Alan Grice raced a Commodore ute in the Bathurst 12 hour as I recollect.

Apparently there will be a 4WD V8 Commodore somewhere in the future - now that should be interesting to see. Likewise with the 4WD V6 Mitsubishi Magna. Ford of course will be left sucking the hind teat

I'm actually thinking of getting a new Commodore actually - they are looking and getting better and better.

Yup - current model of the Ford Falcon (I think based on the XR8 platform, not the 6cyl).

They aren't having too good a time over the past few years - they never seem to hold out against the other marque of Holden Commodores.

Don't they sell some kind of Falcon down there that's like a half pickup. Kinda like a ranchero or sumthin? Just wondering I thought I saw one in a magazine one time. That Holden looks pretty damn awesome how much does a car like that run pricewise?

The sort of pickup ( :grin: ) is what is referred to as a utility or ute over here. Basically the front of either a Commodore or Falcon with a tray behind it - usually incorporated into the body design. The ute was a design that came about from ppl sawing off the back of station wagons and sticking a steel tray on the back as a vehicle to be used on farms etc. Since then they have also become a bit of a drivers car as well, purpose built.

At the moment a 5.7 liter SS Commodore works about to approximately 50,000 Au - halve it for US currency. I'm guessing that the Monaro coupe will go wor considerably more. Already HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) has the build specs ready to go for an upgraded version of the Monaro.
